Presence of an intrapericardial tumor can produce effusion accumulation, sometimes in a great amount, creating pressure over the myocardium and reducing the cardiac diastole. This process is called cardiac tamponade and brings together a series of changes, both in cardiac activity and the entire cardiovascular system. The pericardial effusion associated with the presence of a cardiac tumor is uncommon in dogs, with a frequency of 7%, while the cardiac tumors without pericardial effusion amount to 3% of the total cardiac diseases studied.
